The Best Job For A Mom

The best job for a mom or a woman was described to me during a women’s bible study.

The speaker said to take the job that does not interfere with being a wife and mother, that is not stressful and leaves time for ourselves and to serve at church. I was floored by that description and wondered where could a woman find such a workplace!

I want to target this blog post to the stay at home mother. For some stay at home mothers, our salaries don’t always hold monetary value. Although salary.com says we should make about 112,000 a year!  Our compensation comes in the form of being able to see our children off to school and being their when they return. We get to attend all their school functions and spend most of our time watching them growing up.  Not to mention experiencing our children's gratitude for our time. Once,  I said aloud, “I need to get a job” during a period when I felt I need to take a full-time job to help my husband make ends meet.  My youngest son said to me, “Momma you already have a job. You take care of us.”

Reality says though, unless your husband’s salary exceeds your households needs, then a stay at home moms need to bring in cash some how.

A daycare provider once told me that the best job for a mom is childcare.  I did that during the summers. While my sister and a friend went to work, I babysat their children. For a whopping 240 a week! A summer watching 7 children, driving them to and from the friends homes and taking cheap field trips and trying to feed them exceeded the $240 a week!

Childcare did not turn out to be the best job for a mom…at least not me!

Well what is the best job for a mom? What occupations  fit the criteria outline by the speaker?  My opinion is doing something online! Online positions usually are flexible enough where you can set your own schedule. Companies like Apple and Hilton Hotels have at home positions that will pay at least $7.50 and hour or more.

Using Social Media To Create A Buzz Is Easy!

Using social media to create a buzz is easy AND it is FREE!

At some point of course, you will want  to move into paid advertising. Until you are ready, take advantage of free methods. The key is exposure! The best way to be exposed is repetition and to be seen. Here are 5 things to do that works.


Make New Friends
Be social, so don’t be afraid to check out who’s who. Send friend request to your friend’s friends. Look to connect with people with like interests. Connect in with friends of friends that can benefit from what you have and vice versa.

Join Groups

Joining  groups is a great way of using social media to grow your following and exposing more people to what you do.

Your goals are to be engaging and be prepared if someone needs what you have to offer. Join groups that you actually have interests in!  If you are a cat lover, don’t join a dog lovers group hoping to get a sale! People can sniff out a phony or a salesperson in a heartbeat.

Post something daily:
First, join several social media sites because people need to know your name! Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are very popular sites. That means, posting comments to your walls every day…as a matter of fact, several times a day. Make sure it’s engaging that will prompt responses. If you have a full schedule,  you can use services like Hootsuite to schedule posts to your social  media pages. There are free and paid versions of Hootsuite. Check it out and see how it can maximize your time using social media sites.

Like, share and chat:
No one likes a one sided relationship! Using social media, is engage others outside of business.  Like the the things you genuinely like on their pages. Post a comment, ask questions. If you see friends available on chat, pop in, say hello and ask what’s going  on in their world.

Create Events
Using social media is a free source to invite the people to events. These can be webinars, Google Hangouts or actual hotel meetings to promote your product and/or services. It can even be to meet a restaurant for dinner just to have fun. Either way, events are timeless forms of bringing  people together that creates an atmosphere of engaging others. It opens the door of inquiry. After the standard greetings, isn’t the next question usually, “So, what do you do?”
Bottom line is this : Use social media, share what you have to offer and to be social is FREE!

Remember these things so you can create a buzz using social media: 

Schedule time out of your day to engage the people in your social network circles.
Seek out new friends, accept new friend requests, like and share other people’s comments.
Chat with friends, invite and except invitations and join groups that are of interest to you.

The key is to be you!  Know that it’s not always about business, it’s about using social media to be social!

One Person Can Make A Difference: See How!

One person can make a difference was not the subject I wanted to blog about today.

 I was blindsided by inspiration and it completely threw a monkey wrench in my plan for today. A Psychic Told Me I Was A Worrywart!

I didn't pay anything and out of the blue the psychic told me I was a worrywart !

 

Well she didn’t call me a “wart”!  Although, she was the first person to tell me that I was worrier. In the early 1990’s, when Ms. Cleo was popular and there were dozens people making money telling people their futures, my sister Cherie received a flyer for a psychic reading in the downtown Chicago. Since we were downtown, Cherie being the daring/scary sister that she is, had already made up her mind that she was going. She just wanted me to go with her.  We called our family and told them, where we were going, what we were wearing and if we didn’t called them in a couple of hours, to call the police and send them to that address!
 
When we got to the psychic's apartment, we met a regular lady in a regular apartment. No beaded curtains hanging in the entryway, no incense burning and she wasn't wearing a long glittery robe and turban.  Everything was so regular that a fuse even blew when someone turn on the microwave...scared Cherie and me to pieces!

I sat in a chair away from Cherie and her. She talked to Cherie and told her things, that were true at the time and in hindsight, somethings she said turned out like she predicted.  But during her talk with my sister, kept turning to look at me. Then finally, on Cherie’s dime and time, she tells me, “You worry too much!” Stop worrying to much.”

Me a worrywart ?

As it turned out, I was a HUGE worrywart, the medical diagnosis was post-tramatic stress disorder in 2010. Through prayer, counseling, and a dietary supplement my lifestyle has changed. I am doing better and better each day. I’ve come a long way.

I’ve learned that God can use the complexities of being a worrier to put us on a path to better futures.
Worrying signals that there is something that needs attention.  Being a worrywart  is giving license to problems to hang around, to live in chaos, and to condone being stagnate.  It’s unhealthy!

Worrywarts have access to change!

We must be prepared to deal with it head on. We have to get in the trenches and fight, fight FIGHT!!
If you’re like me, you believe all things work out. It’s just that sometimes, you worry about HOW, UNTIL you get there. Or, you are that someone who worries so much that you feel paralyzed and can’t move.  You have a choice. You can either ALWAYS stay stuck in a rut or you can get healthy and get free.

Do You Say, "Be My Own Boss?" Here's How To Do IT!

Most people in regular jobs want to say to their bosses, "I’ll be my own boss !  I’m outta here!”

For some, the work place can be miserable. They would LOVE speak their minds through a loud megaphone. They want to let their bosses have an earful of what they REALLY think and chunk them the deuces on the way out!

But, their financial realities set in: mortgage/rent, light bill, gas bill, car note, insurance, baby needs a new pair of shoes, medical benefits, need money to eat.... Their courage to step out is diminished by the thought of job security. Even though we've seen in current years, that job security is really NOT all that secure, we accept our lot and toil our lives away in careers and jobs we hate for the sake of "job security".  All the while our dreams and God-given talents are either under-developed because they are not in use. Or,  we hold on to the little satisfaction of simply using them to build some else's dream.
If you think, “I’ll be my own boss” often, then step out on faith and do it! Start making the moves right now, while you are in your full-time job. Use your free time, to become and entrepreneur!

One of the greatest lines, I’ve every heard in a movie is from the Great Debaters.


'We do what we have to do in order to do what we want to do".

How fitting is that for a budding entrepreneur or just someone with a desire to try something new!

Starting taking the steps NOW to becoming your own boss.

These steps are inspired by Russell Simmons from an interview with The Wall Stree Journal Digital!


In order to be my own boss, I must:

Find a passion: What is it that you absolutely love that you “would” do for free? You can transform that into a lucrative business.

Go to work on it: Ask yourself, what skill set and knowledge base do you have or can aquire that can mold you into a master of your passion. What is your niche?

Share it:  How do you tell people about what you have? How many ways can you market your product or services?

Teach yourself, faith over fear: What things must you do personally to overcome fear of?   Fear cancels faith. Equally, faith cancels fear!

Start Today:  What can you do to start being your own boss? Figure that out and get going.

If "be my own boss" feels pretty good, then maybe it's time to start your transition yourself into entrepreneurship. You can do this!

Be the Lone Nut that goes against the grain and start a movement in your circle of influence!

Finally, network with people who ARE their own bosses and be a sponge. Soak up all the knowledge you can and apply it.

Do these things and one day very soon, you will be able to tell your employer, “I will be my own boss, I’m outta here!”

Twin Stuff: Meet the Twins in Empower Network!

Twin stuff is great!

I know because I am a twin!

I wanted to post this blog, to dispel the myth that Cherise Taylor has TWO: Empower Network Blogs, Facebook and two Google + accounts…

One set of accounts belongs to me and the other to my sister Cherie Ward!!!    It is true for us when people say twins think alike. 

Cherie and I thought Empower Network was the best affiliate marketing program on the planet!! So, we both joined.

Twin stuff, like they look alike, and they sound alike, all are true for Cherie and me as well.

 

We do enjoy a lot of the same things. Our families attend the same church. A lot of the same music that is downloaded onto Cherie's  iPod is on mine. We like to shop in the same stores. One of the things, that noticed early on about my twin was that she was fearless and I was fearful. She took risks. I played it safe.  She’d walk up and make conversation with strangers, I held on to my mother’s words even as adult, “You don’t talk to strangers.
